The Beckman FX Floating Fixtures consist of a top float plate that will accommodate all 1.58 mm diameter tubes, a bottom float plate that will accommodate either a .229 mm, .457 mm  .787 mm or .914 mm diameter pin and 4 standoffs that keep the two plates separate.  The length of the standoffs is determined by the length of the pin used.  These fixtures are capable of being connected to the Beckman FX and NX workstations via two adaptors that we make and the magnetic mounting system that Beckman provides.  One of our adaptors will reset the pins in the rare event they become stuck in the up position, the other adapter does not reset the pins and is more economical.  These fixtures differ from our standard floating frames in that the sides are sculpted to make room for the FX Gripper feature.

New - all floating frames sold after 8-8-2006 will be protected with our new Ni Lube corrosion resistant coating.  Ni Lube is a unique composite coating that blends the hardness and corrosion resistance of Nickel-Phosphorus with the low friction coefficient of Teflon. Submicron particles of Teflon are co-deposited with an electroless Nickel-Phosphorus alloy to provide various unique characteristics.  We have changed from conventional anodizing of the float plates because of corrosion effects of acid solutions on the anodized plates.  The new Ni Lube plates are gray in color and can be easily distinguished from the black anodized plates.  Although many of photos on the web site are of anodized (black) fixtures all future sales of floating fixtures will be plates with the new (gray) Ni Lube finish.

The Robot E-Clip Type Fixtures consist of a top float plate that will  accommodate a 1.58 mm diameter FP pr FP6 series E-Clip pin and a bottom float plate that will also accommodate the same pins.  It also has four 3.175 mm standoffs that keep the two plates separate.  The double float plate design is ideal for robotic applications as it reduces the weight of the pin tool over the single manual float plate design.

These fixtures are capable of being connected to the Beckman FX and NX mounting plates (resetting and non-resetting) as well as the Beckman Magnetic mounting system.  These fixtures differ from our standard floating frames in that the sides are sculpted to make room for the FX Gripper feature.
